For 6th Graders ONLY! This Bowman Art Club does a variety of projects that range from face painting to mosaics. Students usually participate in art projects that are not normally done in class, so there is great room for creativity and innovation.

BRAG is a reading club, meeting the last Friday of the month from 7:50-8:20 as a large group. Weekly meetings will be broken down by grade levels and will meet as follows: 8th grade, Tuesday at lunch; 7th grade, Wednesday at lunch; 6th grade, Thursday at lunch. Books will be chosen to read and discuss while we enjoy our lunch in the li brary. You may pick up an application in the library or online on the Bowman Library Page.

CHAMPS is a computer programming club open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Computer Science students from UTD present lessons on how to do computer programming using a language called Alice. Students will be able to learn how to use Alice to create their own computer animation.

Bowman Cheerleading is open to all 8th grade girls/boys. There is a sign up process that occurs in February of each year. The students are responsible for helping to promote school spirit by cheering at football and basketball games. They are leaders in their class and are great representatives of Bowman Middle School.

CIS is dedicated to impacting students and their families. We help with lunch groups, tutoring,, after school snacks, school supplies, attendance monitoring, and behavior management skills. For information, stop by room 719.

Qualifications: Students who enjoy creativity and working in a group.
Each team is composed of 4-7 members. Students choose who will be on their team. Each team is sponsored by a parent who acts as their team manager. Destination ImagiNation is an international creative problem-solving competition. You’ll be part of a team that works for several months collecting ideas and making props. At the tournament in February, you’ll get to show what you are made of — presenting your skit and props to a group of judges.

Learn about Christian living through great sportsmanship

Requirements: Be part of a team; passing grades
All students at Bowman are invited to participate in the Indoor Soccer League. Teams are formed in January with games played after school from February to April.

This organization is made up of Bowman students in any grade who participate in the International Celebration at Bowman in November and the District Martin Luther King
(MLK) Celebration in January.

Students tryout for Whiz Quiz in September. The competition is in early February. There are 7 members on 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams. It’s time to think fast! Complete the following phrases.

If this is a “no brainer”, you might be “buzz-er” worthy! Whiz Quiz can be described as Trivial Pursuit with buzzers. The questions deal with politics, literature, math, science, history and current events.

The MODEL Mentor Program is open to any student looking for support and guidance. Students meet with a volunteer once a week in the MODEL center for advice and help with
homework. There's also one activity each month such as field trips to great places like NASA and universities. Students in the program can also take advantage of school supplies in the
MODEL center.

Students help other students solve problems
The BMS Robotics Club will be comprised of invited 7th grade students. The students selected will be nominated through their teachers and must have a GPA of 80 or better. This club is being formed as part of an area volunteer organization grant and certain parameters must be applied. Ms Perez is the club sponsor.
Sponsor: Ms. Harper (open to 6th, 7th, & 8th graders)
Duet acting, poetry, prose, readers theatre, lip sync, dramatic / humorous interpretation, TV commercial, debate, and pantomime. Compete in 4-6 tournaments per year. Students also work on community projects.

Student Council is a school sponsored organization that works to promote a positive environment for all Bowman students. Student Council is in charge of events such as Red Ribbon Week, canned food drives, and socials. In addition, it supports other school organizations to help promote school spirit as well as community service projects.

There are three plays each year: the fall play, one-act play competition, and the spring play. All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are eligible to audition for each play.
